Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away. I know, you think there’s lots of time to think of a Valentine’s Day gift. I’m encouraging you to begin thinking what you are going to do to treat your loved one because it falls on a Saturday this year. That means many of your local restaurants and hotels will be booked earlier than normal. Besides, you’ll get brownie points (pun intended) for planning so far ahead.
Because February 14th is on a weekend this year, why not give an experience. Chocolates are a no brainer – what person doesn’t love them – but what if you went to the next level and took your love to a chocolate buffet. Beats a heart shaped box of chocolates any day and it’s about the same price.
In Vancouver, the Sutton Place Hotel offers a Chocoholic buffet and it’s all you can eat! For those I know who have experienced it, they say it’s the best! Imagine tables covered in decadent chocolate desserts. Chocolate cakes, chocolate pastries, chocolate pies, chocolate mousse, petit fours, sorbets, ice cream, chocolate fountains and even crepes made fresh before you. A feast for the eyes and the chocolate aroma in the room must be divine.
You need to make reservations so this is where booking early would be a good idea. I found this video about the Sutton Place Hotel’s chocolate buffet on YouTube that should get you salivating.
And don’t think Valentine’s Day is only for couples. One year when a bunch of us girls were all single at the same time, the six of us went out on Valentine’s to celebrate our friendship at a local dessert shop. We had lots of fun and exchanged boy stories while romantic couples surrounded us. I think we had more fun than some of the them. This buffet would be a perfect venue for girls night out.
But I digress - To spice up the night with your loved one even more, stay the night at the Sutton Place Hotel. If you don’t live in Vancouver, come visit our beautiful city for the weekend. Or check your local hotels to see if they offer a dessert buffet or a romance room package. They most certainly will include chocolate!
Now what are you waiting for. Go make a reservation somewhere before it’s too late. On a budget? I’ll share some other Valentine’s ideas in the weeks to come. Of course they all involve chocolate.
