Obama’s Sweet on Hope and Change

by 8chocolate on January 20, 2009

Hope and Change 8chocolateIn honour of this historic day, I’ve highlighted some very delicious Barack Obama chocolate sweets that have been created for this special inauguration day. Although not American, there are many Canadians besides us that join in the celebrations of hope and change today.

A shout out to Tim Carman who writes the Young and Hungry blog for the Washington City Paper. He’s been writing about food with an inauguration theme and he’s found a couple that embraces chocolate.

In his post titled, Inauguration Eats: An Early Look at Obama-Related Food and Drink, there’s a great photo of Obama portrait cupcakes. They are made by Trophy Cupcakes of Seattle, WA. Unfortunately, they don’t deliver so if you’re not nearby, maybe they will inspire you to create your own cupcake creations.

Tim’s other post, Inauguration Eats: Obama Sweets focuses on chocolates from Artisan Confections in Arlington, VA and Biagio Fine Chocolate in Washington, DC. The chocolates are decorated with the two popular buzzwords from Obama’s campaign, ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ including these words translated into other languages.

Each of the two flavours was given careful consideration. One is pineapple passion fruit in honour of Obama’s Hawaiian roots and the other is made with Kenyan coffee beans in honour of his Kenyan ancestry.

You can order chocolates for delivery within the US from Artisan Confections but you may have to contact them for these special inauguration designs. There will be lots of celebration parties today and continuting into the night.

Welcome Mr. President and YES you can.
